Life isn't fair for the people who care
Stick your nose in the air and that's how you go far
So go tell your lovers
Your fathers, your brothers
Your sisters, your mothers
How lucky they are
Light Speed, out of my mind
I'm hurt, but I'll be fine
Put your fist in the air
Raise Your voice and declare
Singing we don't care (We don't care )
We don't care (We don't care )
So don't pretend you hate us when you sing along
Cos we all look the same in dark

HAPPY NATIONAL DAY
this is a day in which:
singapore was separated from malaysia when conflicts/disagreements were too great to overcome. thus, singapore separated from malaysia on 9th august 1965. in the morning, mr lee kuan yew, the prime minister at that time, gave a speech. yea. i got the last part from the straits times.
singapore faced many difficulties after being independent. treats of communism, unemplayoment, shortage of housing, medical facilities and education etc.
the national flag, national anthem, state cress(coat of arms) were unveiled on 3rd December 1959. i think we should have went for that prize the students on stage were giving, haven't we been studying that fact for like 3 weeks?
the national anthem had a new recording on 19th january 2001, with a grander and more inspiring arrangement.
today, is the day, when we revise these facts for pride of our country.
in 1963, the singapore wanted a merger with malaysia, as the british felt that we were too small to be independent. malaysia agreed to the merger because of different reasons- security.
it was in 1819, 28th jan when sir stamford raffles noticed singapore. he landed on singapore on 29th jan. he was searching for a port to facilitate the british east india trade, and singapore laid across main trading routes, linking china, india and europe, had a good harbour, good supply of drinking water and theres a last point i got frm our history texbook: understanding our past- there wasn't any dutch living on it.
ahh. i can go on and on. but oh well. go b39!
and of course. happy national day again. i can't believe its august 9 already.
